I was born in Troy, New York but when I was five we relocated to Los Angeles, California. That Christmas I received my first pet, Cassandra, an Airedale terrier. What a thrill! There was no looking back for me. Overnight I became a devoted animal lover and later spent my summers on a working cattle ranch in central California with horses, cattle, sheep, and, of course, dogs and cats. During the winter I rode with the Los Angeles Auxiliary Drill Team for Women and traded ranch chores for horse shows and parades. And, there were all those stable kitties and pups...
After graduation from Loyola-Marymount University I became a Flight Attendant and for seventeen years flew domestic, MAC, and international routes. For many years I was blessed to have an earthbound roommate who loved animals as much as I did. I knew my pets were safe and loved in my absence. But, when marriage took away my friend, I bid for domestic flights to be home every night rather than board my pets. They were used to missing me at home but not in ‘prison.’
Later, after leaving the airline, my passion for animals turned into the best ‘job’ I have ever had. For ten years, my days have been full of delightful surprises, wonderful fur-friends, fond memories, and pet-parents who are some of the warmest, most caring persons imaginable. Heaven sent!
I shared my home with Nana, who was a rescue-pup many moons ago. She was either a Collie-minus or a Sheltie-plus but refused to give me any further information, including her age. That's OK. She was a perfect-pup and I don't need to know more, but she is no longer with us.
Nana's siblings are seven and a half kitties: (in order of seniority) Sophia Marie, Winston, Adam Wayne, Zephyrus, Sundance, Fairun Shea, and Amanda Jane, with Bartholomew-mew as my part-timer. Nana helped me raise several of them and she was a wonderful kitty-Mom! Plus, we also delight in our demure Diamond Dove, Faith, and a sassy Canary, Love.
